Our commitment

A safe, inclusive space for all.

The principles everyone at TEDxLGSJT agrees to, and what to do if something goes wrong.

01Our commitment

TEDxLGSJT is committed to an environment that is respectful, inclusive and free from discrimination and harassment. Great ideas come from diverse voices, and everyone who takes part — attendees, speakers, volunteers, partners and the organising team — should feel welcome and valued.

This policy applies to the event itself, to everything around it (rehearsals, communications and online spaces) and to everyone involved.

02Respectful conduct

We expect everyone to:

  • treat others with courtesy and respect, including when they disagree;
  • listen to speakers and to one another without interruption or intimidation;
  • respect people’s privacy, including their wish not to be photographed or recorded;
  • follow the instructions of the organising team and venue staff on the day.

03Equal opportunity

Speakers, volunteers and team members are chosen on the strength of their ideas, contribution and commitment. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, language, disability, age, socio-economic background or any other personal characteristic, and we actively seek a programme that reflects the breadth of our community.

04Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to attend and take part. We will publish accessibility information about the venue once it is confirmed, and we will make reasonable adjustments wherever we can.

If you have access requirements, tick the box on the registration form or contact us. We will never ask you for medical details.

05Harassment and unacceptable behaviour

Harassment and discrimination are not tolerated in any form. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • offensive, demeaning or threatening comments, in person or online;
  • unwelcome physical contact or attention, stalking or intimidation;
  • photographing or recording someone who has asked not to be;
  • disrupting talks or other parts of the event;
  • retaliating against anyone who reports a concern.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. The organising team may take any action it considers appropriate, including asking someone to leave the event.

06Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against this policy, please tell us. On the day, speak to any member of the organising team. At any other time, use the contact form.

You may report anonymously, and you will never be penalised for raising a concern in good faith.

07How we respond

Every report is taken seriously. A designated member of the organising team will acknowledge it, listen to the people involved, decide on appropriate action and, where possible, let the person who raised it know the outcome. We review this policy after each event.

08Privacy and confidentiality

Reports are handled discreetly and shared only with the people who need to know in order to act on them. Personal information is handled in line with our privacy policy.

09Contact for equity concerns

Questions about this policy, or concerns you would like to raise, can be sent through the contact form. A dedicated contact address will be added here once confirmed.
